The FLAMES Kernel is a collection of software services that provides the basic building blocks for all FLAMES-based applications. These services manage computer memory, create and manage graphical user interfaces, manage the data stored in the FLAMES scenario database, create and manage all modeling objects, and perform a host of other operations necessary for the creation, execution, and analysis of scenarios. The Kernel also defines a large set of base classes from which all FLAMES models are derived. These classes clearly define all of the external interfaces of models and allow them to "plug" into FLAMES applications without an integration effort.
