Runtime Licenses

FLAMES® runtime licenses allow you to execute applications (computer programs) that were created using one or more FLAMES products. Because FLAMES products are licensed separately, you will need one runtime license for each FLAMES product used by the application. This applies to the standard FLAMES applications available from Ternion as well as any custom applications that were created using FLAMES products.

All FLAMES runtime licenses are “concurrent execution” runtime licenses. This means that one runtime license is required for each concurrently executing application that is using a given FLAMES product.

For example, if you wish to execute FORGE to edit a scenario that contains a FLAMES Advanced Correlated Terrain (FACT) dataset you will need a runtime license to FORGE and a runtime license to the FACT option. If you wish to execute concurrently a second instance of FORGE to edit a similar scenario, you will need a second runtime license to FORGE and to FACT.

Runtime licenses are available in two forms: node-locked and floating. Node-locked runtime licenses allow applications containing FLAMES products to be executed on a specific, identified computer (or a computer to which a specific hardware dongle is attached). Floating runtime license allow applications containing FLAMES products to be executed on any computer that has a local area network (LAN) connection with a specific identified computer (or a computer to which a specific hardware dongle is attached). Node-locked licenses are less expensive than the corresponding floating license.

You will need at least one runtime license for each FLAMES product that is included in the applications you want to execute concurrently. This means you may want more than one runtime license to certain FLAMES products, such as some of the FLAMES options, because they are used in more than one application. For example, the FACT option is an option to FORGE, FIRE, and FLASH. If you want to execute concurrently applications based on FORGE, FIRE, and FLASH with scenarios that use the FACT option, you will need three runtime licenses to FACT. See the detailed information on each FLAMES option for more information about runtime licensing requirements.

Runtime licenses are all you need to execute applications created using FLAMES products. This means that you can create, edit, execute, analyze, and visualize FLAMES scenarios with only the required runtime licenses. If you want to create (compile and link) custom applications, you will need a development license to each FLAMES product you wish to include in your applications.
