A license to a given FLAMES® product gives you a limited right to use that product in accordance with the applicable FLAMES License Agreement over a specified time period (or “term”).
When you purchase a license to a given FLAMES product, the term of the license is perpetual (provided you abide by the applicable FLAMES License Agreement). This means that you may use the version of the FLAMES product to which the license applies without ever having to pay additional license fees to extend the term of the license.
Perpetual-term licenses are valid only for the version of the product to which the license applies. However, a perpetual-term license does not entitle you to use newer versions of a product. To receive upgrades to perpetual-term licenses for newer versions of FLAMES products, you must purchase FLAMES Software Maintenance.
When you rent a license to a given FLAMES product, the term of the license is limited and is established at the beginning of the rental period. All FLAMES products may be rented for periods as short as one full month. The rental fee is a fixed percentage of the price of the licenses being rented per month and is lower for longer rental periods. The entire cost of the rental must be paid at the beginning of the rental period.
All limited-term license rentals include Technical Support. Licenses rented for a term of three (3) months or longer are also eligible for no-cost upgrades to newer versions of the applicable licensed products.
