FLAMES® provides a framework for developing custom simulations that are tailored to specific requirements. As such, no one uses FLAMES exactly as it is provided by Ternion Corporation – at least not for very long. Everyone who uses FLAMES eventually uses it as a part of custom applications that were developed using one or more FLAMES products. Such applications are usually referred to as “FLAMES-based” applications.
FLAMES development licenses allow you to develop custom applications (computer programs) that include one or more FLAMES products. All FLAMES development licenses are single-user licenses and are issued for specific, individual computers (or computers to which a specific hardware dongle is attached). This means that one development license is required for each computer that will be used to develop (edit, compile, or link) FLAMES-based applications, and the license can be used by only one software developer at a time. No portion of any FLAMES development product may be accessed in any way from any computer that is not licensed for FLAMES development.
You will need one development license for each FLAMES product you wish to include in a custom application. For example, if you wish to develop a custom application based on FORGE that will have the ability to edit scenarios that contain a FLAMES Advanced Correlated Terrain (FACT) dataset, you will need a development license to FORGE and a development license to the FACT option.
Development licenses are required to develop custom, FLAMES-based applications. However, FLAMES runtime licenses are all you need to execute such applications. Once a custom, FLAMES-based application has been developed, it may be deployed to any computer that has the necessary FLAMES runtime licenses. To develop and execute custom, FLAMES-based applications on the same computer, you will need both development and runtime licenses for the applicable FLAMES products.
“Shared” development licenses to FLAMES products were available in the past to support development over a computer network. This type of license has been discontinued and is no longer available.
