Huntsville, AL - November 10, 2005 - Ternion Corporation is pleased to announce the release of FLAMES, version 6.0. This version was originally intended to be numbered 5.3, but the improvements that have been made are so significant that we numbered it 6.0. The enhancements include the addition of another option to support complex parametric trade studies and Monte-Carlo analysis, greatly simplified scenario creation capability, and dozens of others, some of which are summarized below. See the What’s New section of the FLAMES 6.0 documentation for details.
Enhanced Analysis Option provides additional capabilities to FLAMES-based simulations developed to support system design and analysis. These capabilities are useful primarily when FLAMES scenarios are executed in non-interactive (batch) mode and when the same or similar scenarios need to be executed repeatedly to perform parametric trade studies or Monte-Carlo analysis.
Simplified Scenario Creation. The creation of FLAMES scenarios has been dramatically simplified in version 6.0 with the introduction of patterns. Single or multiple Units can now be fully defined in FORGE with just a few clicks of the mouse using a simple, wizard-like interface. Patterns for creating many different types of Units are included in the FLAMES 6.0 Example database.
New Tutorials. Three new scenario creation tutorials are included with FLAMES that illustrate how to develop scenarios quickly using patterns.
Scenario Database Import/Export. Any combination of datasets in a FLAMES scenario database can now be imported and exported quickly and easily . This capability greatly simplifies the tasks of moving datasets from one computer to another and of archiving scenario data.
Enhanced Cognition Models. Several improvements have been made to the framework for FLAMES cognition models - the models used to simulate human behavior and decision processes. These models are now even more powerful, flexible, and easy to develop.
New Formation Models. These new models allow a user to select and specify the parameters of a formation geometry and then direct Units with the proper platform models to move in the formation.
Appended Output Files. Output from multiple executions of a scenario can be now appended to the same set of output recorder files. This can dramatically reduce the number of output files and make it much easier to analyze scenario results.
Changes to Model Prototypes. FLAMES model prototypes are now easier to define and manage.
Improved 2D View Controls. The viewing controls on the 2D View windows of FORGE and FLASH have been enhanced to allow the view to be manipulated much more easily using the mouse.
Documentation Enhancements. Several new manuals have been added to the FLAMES documentation set, and major additions have been made to several of the existing documents.
Example Model Enhancements. Several enhancements have been made to the FLAMES example models, and five new example models have been added. As usual, the source code to the new and enhanced example models is included with FLAMES development products.
