A Better Way to Build High-Fidelity Virtual Simulators

Ternion was able to build a fully functional virtual flight simulator based on the FLAMES framework in only six weeks.  At I/ITSEC, conference attendees were invited to fly the simulator and see firsthand how the FLAMES Client/Server options provide a better way to build high-fidelity virtual simulators.

A Better Approach - FLAMES Client/Server:

  • Allows modeling of high-fidelity player interactions

  • Puts simulators on a "level playing field" and provides more reliable results by using the same systems models

  • Reduces network bandwidth requirements

  • Makes simulators more reconfigurable

  • Simplifies software and scenario development

The simulator hardware seen in Ternion's exhibit was provided by Protobox. Out-the-window graphics for the flight simulator were powered by Vega Prime, and the instrumentation display was powered by GL Studio.
