Huntsville, AL – February 15, 2008 – Ternion Corporation is pleased to announce the release of FLAMES, version 7.0. Originally numbered 6.2, the version contained so many exciting and significant improvements that it was renumbered 7.0. Some of these enhancements are summarized below. See the What’s New section of the FLAMES 7.0 documentation for additional details on these and other product enhancements.
FLAMES 7.0 Enhancements:
Scenario Execution in FORGE. One of the most dramatic and useful enhancements to FLAMES is the ability to execute scenarios within FORGE, the FLAMES scenario editing application. You can now execute and visualize a scenario interactively while you create it – all within the same application.
User Interface Enhancements. The user interface of all FLAMES applications has been improved in many ways to make the applications easier to use and more visually appealing. Enhancements to the FLAMES API allow developers to take advantage of these enhancements in the user interface of their custom models.
New Settings Manager. FORGE supports a totally new interface for managing and editing scenario-levels settings. This interface combines and replaces several individual windows and datasets that were used in previous versions of FLAMES and helps make creating scenarios even easier than before.
New Data Recording Settings. FORGE also includes a new interface for specifying data recording settings. Now, you can enable data recording and edit recording settings through the graphical user interface of the new Data Recording Settings window.
Customizable Views. The view overlays in FORGE and FLASH have been moved outside of the FLAMES product and are now considered “example” overlays. Like other FLAMES example models, the source code to the new example view overlays is provided with FLAMES development configurations. Developers can now modify the example view overlays and add their own view overlays to customize the 2D and 3D views of FORGE and FLASH.
Analysis Enhancements. The FLAMES Enhanced Analysis Option includes enhancements to allow it to interface more easily to Phoenix Integration’s automated trade study environment called PHX ModelCenter®. FLAMES version 7.0 supports the plug-ins currently being developed for PHX ModelCenter by Ternion Corporation under a Phase II SBIR contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate. Phoenix Integration® plans to release the plug-ins with a future release of PHX ModelCenter.
Terrain Modeling Enhancements. The FLAMES Advanced Correlated Terrain (FACT) option has been enhanced to provide support for variable level-of-detail (LOD) terrain databases generated by Terra Vista. Variable LOD databases allow the areas of most interest to be represented in greater detail while the remainder of the database is represented in less detail. The primary benefit is the ability to create large databases that use less memory.
3D Visualization Enhancements.The FLAMES Enhanced 3D option now has the ability to import a subset of an OpenFlight® scene database. This new feature eliminates the need to perform an entire terrain database build in Terra Vista just to create a smaller scene database for use in FLAMES.
